Playing Catch-up with Tracey

Share

Hi friends! Let’s catch up!

Since you give me the privilege of being a part of your mornings, I wanted to share with you the latest in my world.

Homelife - I have had so many of you still asking about my dog and I realized that many of you haven’t heard yet. I had to give Benny my Labradoodle back to his breeder because we just couldn’t get along. It was a very painful decision but I know it was the right one. I blogged about it awhile ago, so if you want to read all about the process you can find it right here on our blog.

Health- I am very excited about our fitness challenge for this year! Mike and I are putting our goals out there so we can encourage one another and for all of you to join us! I am going for 39 in ’09, and Mike is going for 59 in ’09. Our fitness coach, Jimmy Page, is working with us again this year to help us reach us our goals, and you know, it’s about so much more than the weight. God really does want us to be healthy! I am learning about my own sin of impatience and my problem with delayed gratification.

I have been working very hard at the gym at least 6 days a week for almost 2 months now and wondering why the pounds aren’t just falling off. The truth is, to do this the right way, is going to take some time. It will require consistency and making the right choices every single day. It will require accountability and absolute commitment. Change is possible but won’t happen by wishing for it. I must be willing to do the work. And guess what? I am willing. How about you? Do you want 2009 to be your year of transformation? Let us know if you’re on the journey with us and how you’re doing. You can comment right here on our blog, drop us a line at TMD@WRBS.com or you can find us individually on Facebook. And tune in Fridays at 8:25AM to catch our weekly weigh-ins and great fitness advice from our coach, Jimmy Page.

Heart- As I approach my 45th birthday in April, I have been thinking a lot about being single and honestly taking it before the Lord every day. I am a happy, full-filled single person- most of the time. But it’s hard every now and then. For me, this has been one of those times. What do you do when your life looks different than you thought it would and you have desires and plans that haven’t worked out?

I must tell you, that the Lord has been so tender with my heart and the more I know of Him, the more I am convinced that He really loves me like no other. And if that is true, which it is, then I can trust Him with the plan for my life- whatever it is. He has something for me that is right for me, and will bring Him glory. I believe this.

And I pray that if you’re struggling with unmet desires, that you will remember to take it to the Lord and believe in His love for you. He withholds no good thing from those whose walk is blameless. Could it be that what you do have right now, is a good thing? Are there opportunities all around you, to love people and grow relationships and be an instrument of God’s love every day? I had to look at my life and say.. well… yes. I haven’t been excluded from participating in loving others. In fact, maybe right now, I’m more freed up to express His love in a way that I couldn’t if I weren’t single. I’m just sayin’…

Thanks for listening and I hope one day to meet all of you in person and tell you what a joy it is to be a part of your mornings!

In His Love,

Tracey

Tracey vs. The Scale

Share

Hi friends!

I have been working very hard with renewed focus on my goal to get fit this year. I have been hitting the gym most every day and really pushing myself. I even added kettlebells to my workout regime when I'm home. I'm eating well and doing all I know to do. And so far, the good news is that I feel really great. However, the scale isn't doing anything- except occasionally going up a pound or 2, then going back to where it was. To say I have been a bit discouraged is an understatement. I think maybe us single gals take that kind of thing even harder, because we don't have someone affirming us in this area.

So what's a girl to do?

As I have battled the scale these last few weeks, I realized the bigger battle is the one going on in my mind. What kind of inner monologue do you have going on? Are you saying things to yourself that you would never say to someone else? Why are we so hard on ourselves?

It says in Phil. 4:8, that whatever is right, true, noble, lovely, excellent, and praiseworthy.. these are the things we should be thinking about. So today I filled my mind with the truth. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I am so blessed to be healthy. The King is enthralled with my beauty. I am feeling great. So what if the scale isn't moving yet? So what if I'm not that size 8 I want to be. There are other things that are more important in God's eyes. And if I'm growing in my love for Him and becoming more like Him, then I'm moving the scale that counts.
And here's the thing. If you're doing the right thing, eventually it will pay off. Sometimes I think that my pursuit of being fit is more of the point than actually getting to some number on a scale. Oh yeah. Learning to be consistent and disciplined and to push myself beyond what I think I can do, can and will reap wonderful benefits in my life.

So the battle goes on and I will keep going and doing what's right. And l will love myself now at size 12 as much as I think I will love myself at size 8- maybe even more. Because after all, there's more of me to love. :)

Hugs,
TT

Tracey & Mike's Smackdown Workout

Share

Tracey and I have been talking about how we are upping our exercise routines to help us keep the pounds off. Thursday, Tracey invited me to a Smackdown Workout her club in Columbia. It was sweet! We worked hard and I think we surprised ourselves at how nice it was to workout with a buddy. Took a couple of pix to prove we were sweatin' it!

The SmackDown Challenge Is ON!!!!

Share

As we strive to get healthy, TMD have been working with Jimmy Page (Fitness Guru!) to eat well and lose weight (Tracey and Mike...not Skinny Dave).

Well, Jimmy confronted me and Tracey about being "Stalled" in our progress to drop the pounds. He was right! So, Tracey has decided to challenge me to a "Weight Loss SmackDown!"

Between today and the end of the year, the one who drops the biggest percentage of weight will be awarded the "SmackDown" prize. We aren't sure what the prize will be yet but will let you know. If you have any suggestions leave us a comment!

From now until Dec. 31st we will post the "Weight Loss SmackDown" updates on Friday after I do my weigh-in. Because Tracey is a girl (and it is not polite to ask a girl her weight) we will be posting only her percentage of weight loss. Check the left side of the blog for a poll and vote on who you think will win our "SmackDown!"
