Normally the first weekend of June is all about the anticipation of the kids getting out of school and the upcoming vacation. Well, here are a few FREE things to help keep your mind off the vacation countdown:

Friday (6-4-2010)

It is National Donut Day! You can get a free donut at Dunkin' Donuts (when you buy a drink) or at Krispy Kreme (just for asking)!

Saturday (6-5-2010)

Our friends at Friendly's are celebrating their 75th birthday by giving away free scoops of ice cream. Between noon and 5:00PM, customers can get a free one-scoop cone or dish of their flavor of choice. Last year, Friendly's gave away 500,000 scoops.

Things to do on a rainy weekend

Looks like we are going to have a soggy weekend around the region but that doesn't mean you can't go out and find some fun!

The Maryland Kids Page has a great section of places to visit across the state. The list is broken down by counties to make it easy to find something close to home. Bonus: many of the places can be visited at little or no cost. Click HERE!

So, grab the kids and the umbrella and have some fun this weekend!

Family Night Out: Shuttle Watching

This might be a night where you let the kiddos stay up past their bedtime to watch the latest Space Shuttle launch from your backyard.

The shuttle flight will be the 28th to rendezvous and dock with the International Space Station, and the glow of its engines will be visible along much of the Eastern Seaboard of the United States.

The launch is scheduled for 9:20pm. So, in the Mid-Atlantic region, look toward the south about 3 to 6 minutes after launch. The shuttle will appear to literally skim the horizon, so be sure there are no buildings or trees to obstruct your view.

A Couple Days Off!

We are going to take an extra day off to make this a long weekend! A big THANK YOU! to Chris & Erin for filling in this morning and if you missed it...Chris is a new Daddy again! Check out their blog HERE for pix of the latest addition to the Scotland brood.

However, while we are off Mike is honored to emcee the Edgewood/Joppatowne Parade on Sunday afternoon starting at 2pm along Joppa Farm Road in Joppatowne.

Remember - This coming Monday (July 7th!) we will be doing the show LIVE from the Open Door Cafe in Bel Air. Open Door will have free coffee and great WRBS breakfast specials all morning long.
