Hi friends,
We all have things about ourselves that we'd like to change. One big one for me, has been my weight- but not just the number on the scale. I wanted to change my overall health and become physically fit. Two years ago, I weighed 53 pounds more than I do now, I was having optical migraines, trouble sleeping, dizzy spells and felt tired and a bit depressed. It has taken awhile, been slower than I would have liked, but by the grace of God, I have stuck with a program of healthy diet and regular exercise. I haven't been perfect.. Oh no. Far from it. But I have been consistent and persistent and now, finally, seeing some results.

With any regular program of exercise and nutrition, there are things that trip us up. The biggest one for me, is the dreaded PLATEAU. Have you been there? It is so frustrating to be losing weight for awhile, slowly....but consistently. You're doing all the right things, eating healthy, your calorie range is perfect, you're working out hard and all of the sudden... The PLATEAU hits. The progress you've been looking for just comes to a screeching halt. And you have no idea why! It may be even tempting to just go back to all your old bad habits and forget this whole thing.

Oh the tears I have cried over the plateau. I am working so hard, why is it not working anymore? I want to hit my goal. I want to keep going. Why is this happening?

The answer is- it's God's fault. Really it is! God designed us too well. Our bodies adapt so quickly to our environment and learn to just work with what we're giving it. In order to bust through the plateau, you gotta change it up. Confuse your body and the amazing system that God designed to sustain your weight, by changing your exercise routine, even changing up the diet a little. Kick it up a notch. We don't really know what we're capable of, we don't push ourselves enough. We start doing some great healthy things for our bodies, and then we just keep it right there and become complacent.

So... what I have decided to do to push me out of this plateau, is to change it up, push myself and make myself accountable.
Starting today, November 1st, I am beginning the 30 DAY SHRED. This is an exercise dvd by Jillian Michaels that is so challenging that she promises if you do it for 30 days in a row, you will see great results. I have tried it a few times, and it's a killer! It's only 20 minutes and it's a combo of cardio and strength training. I will tell you now, it's very difficult. But it is only 20 minutes..

So if you wanna bust through your plateau and join me, go get the dvd. And let's do it. I'll be posting every day for 30 days and letting you know how it's going. I'd love to hear from you too. Plateau over. Come on- let's do it!

In His Strength,
Tracey

Hum Tracey, I read this and this thought came. Is it possible that you are fighting a battle to hard without need? Is it possible that you are feeling you need to do MORE then what you are doing well enough now? Meaning, why not take the success, and continue and continue, knowing you ARE going far instead of believing there must be more! I do not mean this in any judgement way. Oh no, on the contrary I mean it to congratulate, and to encourage! Remember, "There Can Never Be a Better You"

I've lost about thirteen pounds since the beginning of the summer. I decided to have cereal for breakfast and dinner, salads for lunch (with vegetables and some meat), a yougurt for brunch, and something light like fruit late at night. I stopped having sodas, and replaced them with iced gree tea.

I also spent an hour and a half four to five times a week at the gym, mostly running, but weights and crunches were also part of the routine. I recorded my progress on the wii... actually, I did the wii one or two days a week when I couldn't make it to the gym.

I have so much more energy now, although most of my clothes are too loose. It takes lots of discipline. You really have to push yourself, and stick to the routine. I think my students have noticed the difference... it feels great to be in front of people and feel good about yourself.
