Clutter for Christmas?

Clutter for Christmas?

Do you ever find yourself getting frustrated when your kids don’t clean up their room? Let me ask you a question. Do they know where to put their stuff? Do you know where to put your stuff? Do you ever feel like "stuff" is taking over your life?

Our friend Rhonda from Hyssop Services has some easy tips for Christmas clutter:

1. Everything- and I mean everything, needs what I call a “home.” Designate a home for every toy, hair brush, or the incoming mail. This will alleviate clutter and the daunting task of putting one thing from one side of the room to the other when it is time for clean-up.
2. When clean-up time comes, simply pick a particular spot in a room and work to your right returning misplaced items. And here's the tough part. Resist multi-tasking while you're cleaning up! Don’t answer the phone, read an e-mail, go on Facebook...And you just might get it done!

3. Before you add more Christmas stuff to the kids collection of stuff, go through the kids' rooms and donate toys that have collected dust and go ahead and trash or fix the broken stuff.

I would hate to post a picture of my son's room! What an utter embarassment! He will be 15 next month and is a real sweetheart! He just has no idea when it comes to cleaning his room! It's a really good thing he's cute!
