Families are already out shopping for back-to-school items as that first day looms closer. This morning we talked about the most memorable thing you ever had to buy for school. Tracey remembers the yellow bloomers she needed for gym class, Dave recalled his '68 red VW Beetle with no backseat to help him get to school (college) and Mike talked about the useless compass he had to buy every year that always poked a hole in his pencil pack.
We also heard from a lot of listeners. Some of their memorable back-to-school items included an insect box, a sandwhich maker, Snoopy lunchbox, stitches (she cut her hand right before school started), flour and eggs (for a cake), a flute, and more...
Dave's wife just took their kids shopping and the loot is still on the dining room table. Bags filled with pencils, pens, paper, notebooks, and yes...a compass. Some things never change.
Happy Back-to-School shopping!
