As the Bible says, "there is a time for every season."
This seems to be a season of loss. I received word overnight that Nicol Sponberg (formerly of Selah and singer of the song "Resurrection") lost her three-month-old son, Luke, to SIDS. This comes on the heels of the tragedy in the Chapman family last week and also the loss of Nicol's niece (Todd Smith's daughter, Audrey) just over a month ago.
I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child but we have all lost someone at sometime and know that the hurt runs deep. However, God promises to always be there for us. I love the words of Psalm 31 (portions):
I will be glad and rejoice in your love,
for you saw my affliction
and knew the anguish of my soul.
Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am in distress;
my eyes grow weak with sorrow,
my soul and my body with grief.
But I trust in you, O LORD;
I say, "You are my God."
How great is your goodness,
which you have stored up for those who fear you,
which you bestow in the sight of men
on those who take refuge in you.
Be strong and take heart,
all you who hope in the LORD.(NIV)
which you have stored up for those who fear you,
which you bestow in the sight of men
on those who take refuge in you.
Be strong and take heart,
all you who hope in the LORD.(NIV)
Please join us in praying for Nicol and her husband Greg as they deal with their grief. We will post contact information as soon as we have it. Right now you can send them an email at: contact@gregandnicolsponberg.com
